Switzerland named the safest country for travellers in 2020, See Top 10 list

Summary:

Collating data on the frequency of natural disasters, the quality of healthcare systems and levels of violent crime and terrorist threat, travel insurance comparison website Insurly has established a ranking of the safest countries for travellers. According to the methodology developed by Insurly for its "2020 ranking of the World`s Safest Countries", Switzerland is the world`s safest travel destination with an overall score of 93.4 out of 100. Singapore secured the second spot and Norway secured third place in the list.

According to the study, here is a list of the top 10 safest countries in the world for travellers:

1. Switzerland

Singapore on second spot in the list with 92.7 out of 100. This made Singapore the safest Asian country as the risk of natural disasters here stands at 93 out of 100.

3. Norway

Norway secured the third place, which secured an overall score of 91.1 out of 100. The beautiful Scandinavian country could have earned the first spot easily had there not been the risks of violence (75 out of 100, as opposed to 98 for 100 transport risks, and 95 out of 100 for health care).

7. Denmark

8. Portugal

9. Finland

10. Japan

For its part, France was ranked 32nd in the list of 180 destinations. The country scored well for transport risks (88 out of 100) and risks of natural disasters (89 out of 100). 

Finally, the three riskiest destinations for travelers were South Sudan (with an overall score of 14.8), the Democratic Republic of Congo (with an overall score of 15.4) and the Central African Republic (with an overall score of 21)
