USA lost its position as one of the most powerful passport in the world

| Monday | 13th July, 2020

Summary:

With the countries all over the world removing US passport from the list of Visa free or Visa on arrival list, US passport holders can now enter only 158 countries. As per Henley Passport Index 2020, which was released in January, US was on the position of the eight with an entry to 184 countries. But now with entry only into 154 countries, US is equal to Mexico which is on the 26th position.

The reason behind this is largely because of the European Union`s decision, wherein it has completely (temporarily) barred travellers from the US.

Japan is leading the board with the first position with access to 191 countries around the world, closely followed by Singapore with access to 190 destinations. For the third position, there is a tie between South Korea and Germany with a score of 189.

Indian passport ranked 84th, with access to 58 destinations without a visa or with a visa on arrival before the pandemic.
