8 arrested for lynching cases in Tripura

AGARTALA: Three days since four murders, three of which were cases of lynching, have been reported across the state, police have made 20 arrests - eight have been held for being involved in lynching and 12 for spreading rumours. The state has been witnessing sporadic cases of mob violence over the past few days since an 11-year-old boy, Purna Biswas, was found dead earlier this week. "There have been no more arrests in the murder of Sukanta Chakraborty, who had been hired by the government as an announcer to create awareness about rumour-mongering," SP Jalsingh Meena said on Saturday.The rest are on the run..
