Agartala: Tripura government to provide Rs 5000 to 15000 UG students for buying smartphones

This information has been given by Tripura Education Minister Ratanlal Nath.

He said that under Chief Minister Yuva Yogajug Yojana, financial assistance of Rs 5000 will be given to more than 15,000 students studying in the final year of total 40 academic institutions including 22 government degree colleges and two universities.

He told that this scheme was started last year.

So far, financial assistance has been provided to 7274 students to buy smartphones, a total of Rs 3.67 crore has been spent for this.

The budget of this scheme has been increased to Rs 7.50 crore, this year, earlier the budget was Rs 7.30 crore.

A survey conducted last year by the Education Department of Tripura said that about 29% of school students in the state do not have smartphones and cable TV facilities.
