Trinamool Congress (TMC) is expanding the party base in Tripura after winning the assembly elections in Bengal.

The reason behind this expansionist thinking of TMC is Abhishek Banerjee, the nephew of CM and National General Secretary of TMC.

Abhishek Banerjee announced on June 8 that his party would set up units in other states with the sole aim of winning elections and facing the BJP chief.

“If we go to a state, we will not do it just to win one or two seats.

We want to be the platform of choice for the people of that state.

He did not mention any area, but on Tuesday, a senior TMC leader said, "We are exploring the possibility of contesting elections in some big states instead of keeping an eye on smaller states first."

Meanwhile, TMC has renewed its contract with the Indian Political Action Committee (IPAC) of Prashant Kishor.

The new contract is till the crucial Lok Sabha elections of 2024.

Mamata Banerjee wants to see her party playing a bigger role in national politics.
