TMC's Tripura unit decides to join BJP

AGARTALA: In a move that could help the BJP represent itself for the first time in Tripura assembly, the state unit of Trinamool Congress TMC ), including six of its MLAs, on Wednesday decided to switch over to the saffron party.In the 60-member house, the ruling CPM has 51 MLAs, while opposition Congress has two. If the assembly speaker recognizes the merger, BJP would be represented by at least seven MLAs barely six months before the assembly elections.The move came after Trinamool Congress expelled five of these six MLAs on charges of hobnobbing with the saffron party, defying the TMC's stand on the upcoming Presidential election.A Congress MLA, Ratan Lal Nath, has also decided to switch over..
