Flash floods bring Tripura districts to standstill

AGARTALA: Continuous rain for nine hours on Friday triggered flash floods in West Tripura Sepahijala and Khowai districts and has rendered more than 3000 families homeless in the state. Life in the capital city came to a standstill with most government offices, schools and other institutions being inundated. Seven houses have been reported to be damaged and a 40-year-old woman was injured in Bishalgarh when a house collapsed with her inside. Patients were shifted from many wards of Agartala Govt Medical College due to water entering the hospital compound. The disaster management authority and the district administration is taking all anticipatory measures to minimize damage when water from the Baramura range flows down..
