IPFT to go it alone in 2018 Tripura assembly election

AGARTALA: Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) on Thursday said it will not form any alliance in the run-up to the assembly elections as no party has supported its demand for a separate state for the tribals. He asked us to write to the Tripura government for their views on the issue. "As of now, IPFT will go it alone, Debbarma said, but would review the decision keeping in mind the government's commitment to IPFT's agenda. "But Rajnathji told us that the process cannot be started without getting the state government on board. "Since July, we have been waiting for a call from the Union home ministry to discuss our demand.With the governor's intervention, Rajnath Singh invited us to meet him in New Delhi and we had a detailed discussion, which appears to have been positive," IPFT chief NC Debbarma said..
