Sanitation worker dies of asphyxiation while cleaning Mathura sewer

Agra: A 28-year-old sanitation worker died, while three others were rushed to a hospital after they suffered asphyxiation while cleaning a septic tank near Holy Gate area of Mathura on Wednesday.According to police, the incident took place around 12 noon. The workers, two of whom (including the deceased) were not permanent and had been outsourced, entered the septic tank and fell unconscious after inhaling poisonous gas there. Rakesh died on the spot and the others were rushed to the hospital, where their condition was said to be “out of danger”.Talking to TOI, MC commissioner Sameer Verma said, “Rakesh was an ‘outsourced’ worker.
