Mainpuri: 605 boxes of Indian made foreign liquor seized, 3 arrested

AGRA: The Mainpuri police , on Saturday, arrested three men, after a brief encounter, for allegedly smuggling 605 boxes of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 20 lakhs from Haryana. However, their three associates managed to escape.According to the police, acting on a tip off, a team was formed to arrest the smugglers. Similarly, on April 18, Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 48.24 lakh was seized and two men were arrested and on April 10 night, Firozabad police had seized 550 cartons of IMFL worth Rs 16 lakh, which had been smuggled from Haryana.Besides, in two separate raids, Etah and Mathura police , along with the excise department had seized 718 cartons of illegal IMFL and country-made liquor as well as 605 cartons of country-made liquor from Rajasthan registered truck and a Lucknow-registered SUV respectively on March 23. He said, they will be arrested soon. Police also seized three vehicles including a Scorpio.According to officials the police has been told to crackdown on liquor smuggling and in the recent past there have been several such seizures.On June 4, Firozabad police had recovered 442 cartons of IMFL worth Rs 27 lakh and arrested three men in this regard..
