Agra-Lucknow Expressway caves in, probe ordered

AGRA: An SUV , carrying four men using Google maps, which was heading towards Kannauj district plunged into nearly 65 feet deep sinkhole of Agra-Lucknow Expressway service lane in UP's Agra district.The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at around 5:30am, near Wazipur village of Dauki police jurisdiction, 35 km away from city limits. The owner of the pre-used SUV, Mohammad Naushad, had bought it from Mumbai and was heading home along with his friends.Speaking to TOI, Mohammad Naushad who was also driving the car said, “Since I wasn’t aware of the route which could lead to Agra-Lucknow Expressway, I was following Google map. It took me few seconds to gather my consciousness and drag myself out of the car. According to authorities, the sinkhole was formed due to heavy downpour, which eroded the soil beneath the bitumen road.All the four occupants of the Honda CRV, identified as Mohammad Naushad, Rachit Kumar, Abdul Ussin and Mohammad Shanu survived with minor injuries. I took the service lane in order to embark on expressway stretch.”He said, “I was driving at around 30 kmph on service lane and bitumen road looked pretty neat, but all of of a sudden we four felt a heavy jolt and the car plunged in the sinkhole..
