UP CM to attend defence industrial corridor meet in Aligarh today

Agra: Union defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and envoys of several countries will be interacting with over 500 industrialists at the meeting of Defence Industrial Corridor in Aligarh on Saturday.The city has been designated as one of the six nodal points of defence industrial corridor in UP. The proposed defence corridor will pass through six districts — Aligarh, Agra, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow and Chitrakoot.According to officials in the defence ministry, some investment-related announcements are likely to be made in this meet.“Interactive sessions with ambassadors of several countries and captains of the Indian defence manufacturing industries and the industry associations have also been planned during the event," said a defence ministry official.Aligarh district magistrate, CB Singh, said, “All preparations have been made for the meeting. Land measuring 550 hectares has been identified by the administration in Tappal area for the proposed defence corridor.”Two defence industrial corridors were announced in this year’s union budget and one of them is being built in the Bundelkhand region of the state and the other corridor between Chennai and Bengaluru, connecting Kattupalli port, Chennai, Tiruchi, Coimbatore and Hosur.Last month, the Uttar Pradesh government had given an approval to the UP Defence, Aerospace Unit and Employment Promotion Policy, 2018..
