5 assault cases against doctors in 8 months, but no action was taken

Hospital's public relations officer, Dr Shailendra Singh Chaudhary, too, refused to comment.On anonymity, a senior doctor at the medical college said, “Not taking stringent action possibly boosted the confidence among junior doctors who took law in their hands several times. If as SSP, I can take stringent action against my 125 cops and give minor punishment to over 250 cops to make them adhere to and obey law, why can’t S N Medical college authorities do it with their staff?”Several attempts were made to contact medical college principal Dr G K Aneja, but he did not respond. AGRA: Between January and August, five cases of assault and vandalism were lodged against junior doctors of S N Medical College of Agra, but no stringent measures were taken by senior authorities of the hospital, police sources said.According to the sources, all the cases were lodged at M M Gate police station for allegedly assaulting patients' relatives inside the hospital and vandalising shops at Raja Ki Mandi market.“Since all the cases were of non-cognizable offence, no doctors were arrested, therefore, medical authorities also never bothered to take up internal departmental inquiry,” said a source.Senior superintendent of police Amit Pathak said, “The doctors seemed to enjoyed immunity, as their seniors and faculty member ignored their misbehaviour and never took any concrete action..
