Teenage dies after been shot during enactment of lsquoKansa Vadhrsquo in UPs Etah

AGRA: A 14-year-old boy was killed after he was allegedly shot during an enactment of ‘Kansa Vadh’ in UP's Etah district on Sunday evening. Pradeep Kumar was among scores of local residents who had gathered around a temple at Bhaduiya village, where a man had organised Bhagwat Katha recital programme. On Monday after the post-mortem, the body of the victim was handed over to police for cremation. Later, temple priest Sastri Rajesh Kumar attempted to snatch the gun from Yuvraj to shoot the effigy, though during this scrimmage a shot was fired and the bullet hit the teenager Pradeep’s chest and he was killed on spot.”Police have recovered the licensed gun which was used in firing. The incident took place at around 8pm under Jasrathpur police jurisdiction.After the incident, the katha recital organizer identified as Yuvraj Singh and temple priest Sastri Rajesh Kumar were arrested and booked under IPC section 302 (murder).Speaking to TOI, Ajay Bhadauria, circle officer of Aliganj , said, “After the katha recital ceremony, an effigy of ‘Kansa’ was hanged on a tree inside temple premises, which was supposed to be set on fire, but instead the katha organizer Yuvraj Singh fired a shot on the effigy, though he missed the shot..
