After conducting an inspection of several hotels and restaurants in the city, the department has slapped notices to 20 hotels and restaurants for violation of fire safety norms.While some of them do not have adequate fire safety equipment, at other places they are not functioning. Since Tuesday, we have issued 20 notices to hotels and restaurants to make required arrangements in the next 15 days. According to chief fire officer (CFO), more such notices will be issued on basis on inspections.In different parts of the city, many hotels and restaurants are operating in narrow and congested areas. Although, fire department officials can suggest city magistrate to take action against the offenders. Many of them don’t have fire alarms, basement sprinklers, water tanks, adequate number of fire extinguishers, proper arrangements for entrance and exit, and other required facilities.”As per the norms, the fire safety department in UP does not have authority to take action in case of violation of fire norms..
