'One Nation, One Election' talk in Gujarat University soon, educators divided

Ahmedabad | Friday | 20th April, 2018

Summary:

In a first, the Gujarat University is all set to host a session on the much debated idea of 'One Nation, One Election', being pushed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and often echoed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The institutes may have to host such events as they would be pressured, but students do not need to comply. Interestingly, the chief guest of the session will be Professor Aniruddha Deshpande, Chairman of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)-led institute Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP). Why are such sessions not held in institutes like JNU, FTII, and others?" While the Constitution allows separate elections as every election is different, the present government wants people to believe that people vote for one person..
