Summary:

AHMEDABAD: Municipal road engineers prosaically — and most creatively — describe them as the ‘mastic malfunction’ of asphalt, that usually appears after monsoon and are literally omnipresent. Last year, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) claimed that there were an estimated 4,500 of them by August. Beside this, the AMC had told the HC that there are 15 vigilance officers who have been deputed to check road quality. One needs to see now whether these measures can surely curb potholes on Ahmedabad roads. The MAC also made it mandatory for contractors to use bitumen tank nanotechnology based reactive penetrative anti-stripping agents for road durability. In most cases final bills are not placed,” said a senior AMC official. The other condition was that contractors will be made to sign a declaration in which the commissioner can permanently blacklist them from all road job-work..
