Ahmedabad: Nigerian caught trying to smuggle cocaine in 20 capsules he swallowed

The Special Operation Group (SOG) of Crime Branch, on Monday, arrested a 30-year-old Nigerian national for allegedly trying to smuggle cocaine in 20 capsules that he had swallowed. Later, he was taken to the Ahmedabad Asarwa Civil Hospital where an x-ray confirmed the presence of cocaine-filled capsules in his body. The accused, identified as Johu Alexis, was caught at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad based on intelligence inputs and on suspicion of CIFS officers present at the airport. Until now, we have been able to cover nine capsules but still, 11 are still inside. Alexis had arrived from Dubai and was on his way to Mumbai when he was nabbed at the Ahmedabad airport by the immigration department and later handed over to the Sardarnagar police station..
