Surat: ITI student's heart, other organs give new life to six

In death, an ITI student from Surat gave a fresh lease of life to six people, who received his heart, kidney and other organs. Mihir’s father Bharat, a businessman by profession, and other family members agreed to donate his organs after being counselled by Donate Life, an organisation working for organ donation. One of Mihir’s kidneys was transplanted to Surat resident Sanjay Kanani, 34, and the other to Adnan Ansari, 12, of Ahmedabad. Donate Life said that it has been involved in donation of 19 hearts, 277 kidneys, 113 livers, six pancreas, and 228 eyes in the past two years. The organisation said that Mihir’s heart was transplanted to Noida resident Govind Mehra, 32, at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi..
