149% rise in obesity in Gujarat men

You have been warned.The latest Lancet study — covering the 1990-2016 period —on the prevalence of obesity among the people of Gujarat above 20 years has revealed a 149% rise among men and 121.6% rise among women.The study says that the prevalence of obesity was 4.7 among every 100 men in 1990.The figure rose to 11.6 in 2016. In 1990, only 8 women among 100 were obese; while in 2016, the prevalence rose to 17.7.The Lancet study also shows how Kerala has recorded a 218.8% increase in obesity prevalence among men and 159.8% rise among women in the same 16-year period.
