Summary:

AHMEDABAD: The shuttle bus service from SG Highway to the airport will close on Saturday, for lack of takers. Officials also said that the authorities had earlier planned to introduce more such buses, connecting Maninagar Paldi and the eastern parts of the city with the airport. However, mitigate the losses the BRT and AMTS services, the authorities decided to close down loss-making routes, of which the shuttle service was one. AMC officials decided to wind up the shuttle service as it was not getting more than five passengers per trip on average.Officials said that the BRT and AMC authorities had set a fixed rate of Rs 100 for a trip to the airport. However, the bus failed to capture the attention of travellers.Officials said the bus used the BRT lane and passed Ramdevnagar, Nehunagar, Ashram Road and en route to the airport.A senior officer said they noted that travellers preferred using radio taxis or paying slightly more, rather than using the service.Officials said one would have to walk to catch on of these buses and the service was thus not favoured by travellers..
