NIA files chargesheet in fake currency case

NEW DELHI/AHMEDABAD: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday filed a chargesheet before a special court in Ahmedabad in connection with a fake Indian currency notes (FICN) racket being run in Gujarat NIA spokesperson said the chargesheet was filed against two accused, Sanjaykumar Mohanbhai Devadiya alias Devaliya and Sureshbhai Mavajibhai Lathidadiya alias Guruji alias Chakor. Both have been booked under sections 489B, 489C and 120B of the IPC, for using counterfeit currency notes as genuine, possession of them and criminal conspiracy.The Gujarat anti-terrorist squad (ATS) had intercepted Devadiya, a resident of Junagadh , with fake Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 notes. “The investigation also revealed inter-state and international linkages, pointing towards the supply of FICN from across the border.
