Summary:

The petitioners, whose village fall in Daskroi taluka, said that by depriving them of mandated civic amenities, the civic body was violating their rights to health. The Gujarat High Court has issued notice to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and others in connection with a petition moved by some residents of Narimanpura Village which is close to the Dholka-Ahmedabad highway. The petition alleges that despite 12 years of being made part of the AMC limits, the village continues to lack basic civic amenities including sewage and drainage pipeline, streetlights, roads, stormwater facility and drinking water among others. The petition stated that the villagers have made repeated representations for basic municipal amenities and infrastructure but the same have been ignored which is a violation of their statutory rights. It further said that twelve years is a reasonable period of time for the civic body to plan the development..
