Summary:

“With tiger population on the rise, there is a possibility that Gujarat will soon see another tiger entering the state,” said the official. “The tiger could have entered an area where there is a lack of prey base and hence could have starved to death,” he said.A tiger expert, however, questioned the preparedness of the state for tigers. Forest officials said that for the last three years WII had written letters alerting Gujarat that a tiger was heading towards the state. The WII officer said that had the state begun taking measures it would have at least had adequate prey base to support the single tiger. The tiger had died of starvation as it could not hunt a prey..
