Ahmedabad police nab 55 offenders amid overspeeding drive

A day after Ahmedabad Police Commissioner's notification on curbing speed limit, a total of Rs 24,500 fine was collected from 55 overspeeding offenders during a drive launched by city traffic police on Tuesday. According to police officials, the drive against overspeeding was conducted on the outskirts of the city during peak hours between 8 am to 12 pm. Tejas Patel, DCP traffic said, "During the six hours of drive, our officials were able to nab down 55 people, who were found violating the notification. Stating the overall scenario of overspeeding till July 2019, DCP Patel said, "We have already registered 625 cases of overspeeding. Post police commissioners notification, we are going to be stricter and will enforce more staff to control the overspeeding menace.".
