Gujarat: Rise in med seats - Over 1K more faculty needed!

Ahmedabad | Friday | 23rd August, 2019

Summary:

The rise in seats to accommodate the 10% Economically Backward Category (EBC) students may have been a piece of welcome news for aspiring medical students. However, those in the field say in the absence of a simultaneous rise in teaching faculty, the rise in seats will only deteriorate the quality of medical education being offered. The state government had announced an increase in seats for medical and paramedical courses across the state. With the announcement, the number of seats for MBBS courses alone has increased to 914, taking the total number of seats to 5,264. Overall, there has been an increase of 6,809 seats across the state in medical as well as paramedical courses..
