Won't examine any witness: Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama to Gujarat High Court

Ahmedabad | Wednesday | 18th September, 2019

Summary:

Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama on Tuesday submitted to the Gujarat High Court that he does not wish to examine the five witnesses enlisted by him in the election petition filed by Congress’s Ashwin Rathod challenging his Assembly poll victory. During the hearing, Chudasama’s counsel submitted to the court a purshis (written statement) clarifying that he does not wish to examine the five witnesses enlisted by him. The court after reading the purshis objected to it clarifying that it only mentions that the minister does not wish to examine five witnesses and does not clarify that he is closing his evidence. Following this, the same was added by the minister’s lawyer in the purshis and submitted to the court. Notably, the court had on August 7 deferred its decision on the application after Chudasama opposed the same on multiple grounds..
