AMC issues notice to hospital for charging COVID test fee

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has issued a show-cause notice to city-based Bodyline hospital for charging over rupees 4,000 fees as COVID test from a patient.

As per reports, a patient namely Hansaben Parmar, resident of City’s Harkeshwar area has COVID-19 symptoms.

Run by AMC, SVP hospital referred the lady to Bodyline hospital for a checkup as it is declared COVID-19 hospital as per MoU inked with AMC.

As per MoU, 50% beds of the private hospital are reserved for coronavirus patients referred by AMC.

However, Bodyline charged rupees 4500 for conducting the patient’s test.

Mitesh Parmar, her son told a leading media, “At around 4pm we took my mother to SVP Hospital as she was having trouble breathing.

As we reached the the hospital, the staff refused to admit her and said she can only be admitted if they get call from the hospital superintendent.

After waiting for two hours we were referred to Noble Hospital which also did not admit her.

He said that SVP officials later referred her to Bodyline Hospital.
