AMC serve 922 fines, collect 2 lakhs from Unlock 1.0 violators

Summary:

In total, rupees 1,84,400 was collected through 922 violators.

As per the decision taken by the state government, each person found in violation of mass related rule was fine rupees 200.

With over 15,000 COVID- 19 cases, Ahmedabad is gradually becoming India’s worst coronavirus affected city.

Though the shockingly growing numbers are not enough for people to follow guidelines by the government, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation started a drive to fine the violators.

Scores of people are being careless and just not complying by the rules and roaming around city without masks and breaking social distancing norms.

The health department team of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) formed 149 teams and fined those individuals who were not wearing mask.

In total, rupees 1,84,400 was collected through 922 violators.

On May 8, there were 1,348 active cases in central zone which comprises areas like Jamalpur, Dariapur, Kalupur and Khadia to name a few.

In April, the corporation had created containment clusters in the zone to curb the spread of the virus.

On May 15, the number of active cases fell to 1,213 and a week after that to 1,147.
