2 youths set Dalit girl on fire in UP, held

ALLAHABAD: Police arrested two youths on Tuesday for allegedly setting ablaze a 19-year-old Dalit girl in Raniganj Ajgara village on Monday evening. The duo killed the girl in a bid to avenge the assault by Pasi, who is behind bars ever since then. The victim died during treatment at an Allahabad hospital on Monday night.Pratapgarh SP Shogun Gautam said: "The arrested youths - Kalloo and Dipu - residents of Lalganj, allegedly barged into the victim's house when she was alone and set her on fire. "The victim's neighbour, Sahil , was also injured while trying to save her and has been hospitalised, the SP added.Gautam said the accused were at loggerheads with the victim's brother Bachchan Pasi , for stabbing Dipu in April 2017 over a petty issue..
