Allahabad cops arrest godman wanted in 11-year-old murder case from Bihar

ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad police on Friday arrested a sadhu (godman) from Begusarai in Bihar in connection with a murder he had committed in the city in 2007.Police said Parmeshwari Puri alias Pancham had been evading arrest for the past 11 years and also carried a cash reward of Rs 25,000.Additional SP (ASP) Sukirti Madhav said, “Pancham was wanted by Daraganj police in connection with a case registered under Section 302 of the IPC in 2007.”He added that acting on a specific information that the absconder, wanted by the Daraganj police, was taking shelter in Bihar, a police team from the city managed to arrest him from Begusarai.The ASP said that the accused, who was earlier member of Juna Akhara, had allegedly killed another sadhu of the same akhara with the help of his accomplice near Prayagghat railway station and escaped.Though the police had arrested his accomplice in 2007 itself, Pancham had been evading arrest..
