AMC's 'funeral procession' to crack down on polybags

It has been requested to all to participate in the funeral procession by putting polythene stacked in houses and shops in a vehicle meant for carrying the waste. People should pray for polythenes soul to rest in peace so that it could not return to pollute the environment again. The last journey will be taken out from AMC and at its five zones one by one and after covering all the city localities it will end in the same place where it has started. The first 'procession' will be organised in front of St Anthony Inter College at 3.30pm.Additional municipal commissioner Ritu Suhas, said, "If even after the processions, polythene bags are found in houses and shops then people will be fined up to Rs 1 lakh and imprisonment of up to one year." ALLAHABAD: Days after a ban on single-use plastic was implemented across the state, Allahabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will organise a 'funeral procession' for polythene by sending a van to collect polybags from houses around the city.On Wednesday, AMC apprised traders in the city about the 'death of polythene' via a WhatsApp message, which bears the signature of additional municipal commissioner Ritu Suhas The message reads: "With profound grief, it has been stated that the polythene which has been used in our houses and business establishments have been ended (banned) by the government..
