Drones, CCTVs to keep 'kanwariyas' safe on Allahabad streets

Policemen will be deployed at strategic points like Shastri bridge, Andhawa turn and Sarayinayat, through which a large number of these kanwariyas are expected to pass.The devotees of Shiva assemble to take water from the Sangam and cover the across 120-km distance to different temples of Lord Shiva including the Padila Mahadeo temple in Tharwai, Allahabad and the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi. The pilgrimage would end on August 9.IG (Allahabad range) Ramit Sharma said “The traffic police will designate lanes for the movement of kawariyas and three drones will also be used to monitor the yatra.”Sharma said that adequate police force would be deployed on the route and Allahabad police would be coordinating with Bhadohi and Varanasi police to ensure safety and security of kanwariyas.The kanwariyas are expected to pass through Daraganj, Jhunsi before arriving at the Allahabad- Varanasi highway. ALLAHABAD: Police will use drones and CCTVs for the safety of kanwariyas , who would be embarking on a journey from Sangam to Varanasi to offer jalabahishek to Lord Shiva at Kashi Vishwanath temple during the Hindu month of Shrawan.Apart from roping in three drones and additional force, police will also set up barricades and keep ambulances on standby to help kanwariyas.The department has also drafted an elaborate traffic plan for the Shiv devotees which will be effective July 28 onwards, when the kanwar yatra starts..
