Allahabad: The city police, on Wednesday, claimed to have arrested a cab driver identified as Vikas Singh (22), a resident of Janardanpur (Satna) near Chandralok theatre road and recovered a costly mobile worth Rs 75,000, several Australian dollars worth thousands of rupees and a car from his possession.Inspector (Kotwali) RS Yadav said: “An NRI woman from Sydney New South Wales, Shairen Shandilya has lodged a case against a driver with Kotwali police station under Section 379 of IPC alleging that the driver had stolen her costlier mobile and other valuables.” He added that the victim NRI woman had come to Allahabad from Mumbai via car and was staying at a local hotel.Inspector further added: “the car driver had stolen the bag of the victim on January 28 during her stay in Allahabad and escaped to some unidentified place.”Acting upon a specific tip off, a team of Kotwali police arrested the accused driver near Chandralok theatre road on Wednesday early morning and seized the costly mobile, 13 notes of 50 dollar denomination and one note of five dollar denomination and a car from his possession..
