Two SP MPs, workers booked for violent protests

Allahabad/Gorakhpur: A day after violent protests by Samajwadi Party (SP), FIRs were lodged on Wednesday against two party MPs and several others in Allahabad and Deoria.The protests had erupted after party chief Akhilesh Yadav was stopped in Lucknow from boarding a flight to Allahabad for attending a function organised by the Allahabad University Students Union (AUSU) on Tuesday. Further action is being taken,” said SHO Deoria Kotwali Vijay Narayan Prasad. “An FIR has been registered at Colonelganj police station citing 19 clauses of the IPC, including instigating the crowd, damaging public property, arson, etc,” a senior police officer told TOI.SSP Allahabad Nitin Tiwari said, “Two student leaders have already been arrested in this connection.”Similarly, an FIR was lodged with the Kotwali police in Deoria against SP district president Ram Iqbal Yadav and 150 unidentified SP workers on Tuesday late night following protests.“An FIR has been lodged against 150 unidentified SP workers and party district president Ram Iqbal Yadav on the written complaint of SI Yogendra Yadav under sections 143 IPC and 188 of IPC. Several persons including policemen were injured in the violence.Allahabad police said a named FIR had been lodged against 46 SP members, including party Badaun MP Dharmendra Yadav and Phulpur MP Nagendra Singh Patel.Along with them, state president of the party Naresh Uttam, AUSU president Uday Prakash Yadav, SP spokesperson and former president of AUSU Richa Singh, Abhishek Yadav, Avnish Yadav, Adil Hamza, Ajeet Yadav alias Vidhayak and several others have been named in the FIR which also mentions around 250 unidentified protesters.The FIR was lodged on a complaint moved by Inspector Colonelganj Satyendra Singh, who was injured in the protests at Balson crossing..
