Allahabad: Long queues, security at Shiva temples

ALLAHABAD: The heavy security in the wake of the last snan of Kumbh Mela failed to deter devotees from thronging temples of Lord Shiva on Maha Shivaratri in the city on Monday.Famous attractions like Mankameshwar temple , Someshwarnath temple, Gangeshwar Dham and Naagbasuki temple drew the biggest crowd. Devotees also observed a fast and performed yagnas on Maha Shivratri. However, we didn't mind waiting as the day has its own importance." Devotees started queuing up outside temples of Lord Shiva since early morning, chanting 'Om namah shivay' and 'bam bhole'.At Padila Mahadeo temple, thousands of devotees lined up to offer prayers to the deity and additional police teams were stationed to regulate the crowd of devotees.Sunita, a local resident, said "Our turn to offer prayers came after more than two hours at Mankameshwar temple..
