Truck driver held with 525kg poppy husk

ABOHAR: Fazilka police have arrested a truck driver and recovered 525kg poppy husk from his possession on Wednesday. During the search, the cops recovered 525kg poppy husk concealed under cattle feed.The SSP said police arrested the driver, who has been identified as Amarjot alias Mehakjeet of Bhugger village in Bathinda district. The three car occupants, namely Gurjit Singh of Jyondh village, Narinder Singh of Mandi Kalan and Satpal of Giggad, all from Bathinda district , managed to escape. Police parties had been dispatched to nab the remaining three accused, he added. They had reportedly brought the consignment from Madhya Pradesh and were travelling in a car ahead of the truck, Patil said.He added that the accused in the car were in constant touch with the truck driver on mobile phone, guiding him to follow the route behind them.The SSP said a case has been registered against Amarjot and other three accused named by him at Wahabwala police station..
