Drugs, gold seized from Attari rail & international airport

AMRITSAR: Custom officials here recovered heroin and gold from a goods train that arrived from Pakistan and from international airport respectively. The recovered gold pieces have been seized and the passenger has been arrested under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. Custom officials also recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 8.5 lakh from two Turkmenistan national who arrived in Amritsar on board Turkmenistan flight. The gold was hidden in the rectum of the passenger who arrived Amritsar from Delhi. Custom commissioner Dipak Kumar Gupta on Sunday said that during rummaging of empty wagons of goods train they found around 750g of heroin packed in 3 packets which was concealed in a cavity while another dark brown coloured substance suspected to be hashish was also recovered.In another case, Dipak said that customs officials at Sri Guru Ram Das International Airport recovered around 900g of gold valued at around Rs 27.25 lakh..
