Amritsar: Youth throw acid on girl; two arrested

AMRITSAR: Amritsar rural police nabbed two acid throwers on Saturday. The accused had thrown acid on a BEd student while she was going home from college on Friday.While talking to media persons, senior superintendent of police, Amritsar rural, Parampal Singh said that police arrested Inderjit Singh, a resident of Sangatpura, and Jobanjit Singh, a resident of Gaggomahal village, and also recovered the bike used by them for the incident.Parampal said that keeping in view the sensitivity of nature of the crime he had constituted several teams to nab the culprits. “We not only employed our human resources, but the technical investigation was an important constituent for tracing the culprits,” he said.SSP said that the Sukhbir Singh, a resident of Sangatpura, the shopkeeper from whom both the accused had purchased the acid had also been arrested.Divulging the reason behind throwing acid on the girl, he said that Inderjit and the girl were in a relationship and Inderjit wanted to marry her, but girl's family was against the love marriage.“Out of this denial, he threw the acid on girl's face,” he said..
