Navjot Singh Sidhu invites international chefs to open culinary institute in Punjab

AMRITSAR: Punjab will soon have an Indian culinary institute , local government, tourism and cultural affairs minister Navjot Singh Sidhu announced here on Friday after inaugurating World Food Festival and Traditional Rasoi Sammelan.“We have invited world class professional chefs to open the institute in Amritsar or in Mohali. Sidhu informed that tender worth Rs 10.76 crore had been issued for the purpose of building an International Food Street at Town Hall, which would commence operations from March 2020. “The street would have 16 food courts, two restaurants and cafeteria, five art and craft shops, exhibition hall and the conference room,” he said. He said the fort was a symbol of great cultural heritage of Punjab and it was the government’s duty to ensure that the building was perfectly maintained. “The real food street will be this one at Town Hall, which would have chef’s from around the world serving over 143 dishes,” he said.Rs 15 crore for Gobindgarh FortOn the occasion, Sidhu announced the last installment of Rs 15 crore for the renovation and beautification of the Gobindgarh Fort..
