Revoke transfer of 13 schoolteachers, demand Mansa villagers

“We want the 8,886 teachers, who have been regularised by the state government last month, at a salary of Rs 15,600 per month during the probation period of three years, should be given full salary.” Bathinda: Parents of students along with activists of farmer organisation BKU (Ekta Ugrahan), who had opposed the move to transfer 13 teachers from various schools of Mansa district, burnt effigies of the state government at two villages on Monday.Parents also announced to join the protest by teachers and BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) outside the Mansa deputy commissioner’s office on Tuesday. The 13 teachers were transferred allegedly for boycotting the flagship programme of the state education department ‘Parho Punjab Parhao Punjab’ and taking part in a protest by Sanjha Adhyapak Morcha.Protesters at Bhupal and Ralla villages demanded cancellation of transfers and sought full salary to Sarv Sikhya Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Sikhya Abhiyan (RMSA) teachers upon regularisation of services.Bhupal residents Surjit Singh and Gurjit Singh said they supported the teachers’ protest and did not want the state government to victimize them by transferring them to far-off places..
