Bargari sacrilege stir set to end on December 9

‘Hope Punjab government will make announcement soon’CHANDIGARH/BATHINDA: The Insaaf Morcha (protest sit-in) at Bargari to press for the arrest of those guilty of sacrilege and killing of two Sikh protesters on October 14, 2015, and release of Sikh detainees still languishing in various jails, is set to be lifted on Sunday. A special investigation team (SIT) has already been constituted and the state has also written to other states like Rajasthan about the prisoners. "Sources also said that the proposal to have continuous payroll of certain prisoners is under consideration and could be cleared in the next session of the assembly. The protest has been on since June 1.A source in the government said, "The state government has acted on almost all demands raised by the Morcha, be it bringing those guilty for sacrilege to task or release of prisoners lodged in other states to Punjab. Daduwal and Dhian Singh Mand, who was made parallel Jathedar of the Akal Takht, were behind the Morcha.The Morcha was started on June 1, three years since the stealing of the Bir of Guru Granth Sahib was stolen from Gurdwara at Burjh Jawahar Singh Wala village on June 1, 2015.The special investigation team(SIT)formed by the Captain Amarinder Singh government have arrested a number of followers of Dera Sacha Sauda on the accusations of stealing the Bir and indulging in various cases of sacrilege..
