Summary:

AMRITSAR: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal will hold a meeting of his party’s workers in Ajnala, the stronghold of dissenting fomer MP Rattan Singh Ajnala and his MLA son MLA Amarpal Singh Bony. He accused Badals of politicizing the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and using its influence and resources for their personal and political purposes.A SAD (Taksali) leader said that former jathedar’s presence would help them gain support for the new party party in panthic circles. It will apparently be his first public event in their area since the Ajnala father-son duo, who were once SAD’s trusted lieutenants left party in November last year and formed since SAD (Taksali) with MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura as president.President of Ajnala Municipal Council Joravar Singh told TOI on Saturday that Sukhbir would address booth-level party workers on Monday for strengthening of the party’s and check the preparations for ensuing Lok Sabha elections.“Monday’s meeting will show how much damage has former leaders caused to Sukhbir’s SAD,” said a local leader, while claiming that a door-to-door campaign had already been launched by SAD workers to persuade people to make an impressive show of gathering and extend warm welcome to Sukhbir.Ex-MP Ajnala, who is senior vice-president of SAD (Taksali), said, “Sukhbir and other SAD leaders are desperate to put up a show of strength, knowing that they don’t have any tall leader with them from the region.”Meanwhile former jathedar of Akal Takht Bhai Ranjit Singh shared stage with SAD (Taksali) leaders in a function at Tarn Taran..
