Pak forest to be named after Guru Nanak

AMRITSAR : After initiating the process to acquire land for Baba Guru Nanak University (BGNU) in Nankana Sahib, Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan announced to rename Balloki Forest Reserve in Nankana Sahib district of Pakistan after the first Sikh master, Guru Nanak Dev. Over 10,000 saplings were planted in the forest reserve during the drive. According to media reports in Pakistan, Khan made the announcement while launching a spring tree plantation campaign at Balloki, Nankana Sahib, on February 9. “This announcements will surely strengthen ties between Muslims and Sikhs,” he said. Hailing the Imran’s announcement, Global Sikh Council president Gurdeep Singh Kundan told TOI on Tuesday this was not only a great gesture, but an acknowledgement to Guru Nanak’s universal and eternal worldview and divine message to humanity..
