6 booked for cheating on pretext of sending local residents abroad

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, November 11The Amritsar rural police have booked six persons in three separate cases on charges of duping local residents on the pretext of sending their wards to foreign shores in search of green pastures. Similarly, Sukhraj Kaur of Dhulka village stated to police that Pal Singh and his wife Gurmeet Kaur took Rs 5 lakh for sending his son to New Zealand. The police have registered a case against them under the Punjab Prevention of Human Smuggling Act and Section 420 of the IPC. Meanwhile, in another incident, Arjinder Singh of Chachewali village was allegedly defrauded by Pardeep Singh of Gurdaspur district. Out of this, he returned Rs 1.20 lakh, but denied to return remaining money..
