Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, November 20Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has signed three memorandum of understandings (MoUs), one each with Punjab Agriculture University, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University and Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology on Wednesday. The collaborations were facilitated by university’s industry linkage cell and the Department of Food Sciences as a part of UGC’s programme, Scheme for Trans-disciplinary Research for India’s Developing Economy (STRIDE), to improve the trans-disciplinary research to strengthen research culture in the university. STRIDE will provide support to research projects that are socially relevant, locally needed, nationally important and globally significant. Vice-chancellor, GNDU, Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu said: “Trans-disciplinary research is a joint effort of investigators from various disciplines to create new conceptual, theoretical and methodological innovations that integrate and transcend beyond discipline-specific approaches to address a common problem.”Prof SS Behl, Dean (academic affairs), said the scheme would strengthen research culture and innovation in higher education institutes and would help students and the faculty to contribute towards India’s developing economy with a collaborative research..
