While Mandeep died on the spot, Triptpal was seriously injured in the firing. Members of a Batala-based gang had claimed the responsibility of the two incidents, saying that they had an enmity with them. A preliminary probe found that though Mandeep was a drug addict, he did not have any enmity as being claimed by the gang members on social media.
