The agitating employees and pensions were up in arms against the non-payment of their salary and pension for the month of November. Gurbhej Singh Dhillon, Pooran Das, Dhanwant Singh Randhawa, Manjit Singh and other representatives of the employees and pensioners protested against the mismanagement of the Powercom and the wrong policies of the state government. The leaders warned that they would not join their duties till their salaries were released. Similar protests were organised in Patti, Bhikhiwind, Khemkaran, Naushehra Pannuan, Sarhali, Chohla Sahib, Khadoor Sahib, Harike and Khalra, etc..
