Toll reaches 5 as 2 more die in lightning; crops suffer damage across Marathwada

Nanded district too has been equally at the receiving end of the unseasonal showers since the beginning of this month. It includes orchid farms spread over 261 hectare, followed by hot weather season crops cultivated on 214 hectare and irrigated farms on 89 hectare. It has suffered loss to irrigated farms spread over 445 hectare and orchid farms on 76 hectare. Isolated incidents of hailstorm were also reported from the parts of Marathwada.As per preliminary survey carried out by the district level authorities, Latur district has reported maximum damage to agricultural sector on nearly 563.25 hectare. As per official data, three persons had lost their lives while another 20 sustained injured due to hailstorm and lightening related incidents in the region..
