MSEDCL collects online payment of Rs 81 crore in June

Aurangabad: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) that has been pressing for use of online bill payment facilities has collected Rs 81.57 crore from different platforms during the month of June from Aurangabad region.“Aurangabad region, comprising Aurangabad, Nanded, Jalgaon and Latur zones, registered online bill payment by as many as 4,32,129 consumers,” MSEDCL deputy chief public relations officer for Aurangabad region Sunil Jadhav said.As per official data, Aurangabad zone witnessed maximum online bill payment (Rs 28.39 crore) followed by Jalgaon (Rs 28.07 crore), Latur (Rs 14.26 crore) and Nanded zone (10.85 crore).“Increasing number of consumers have been availing the online facility and we appeal the reaming consumers to opt for the modern option of bill payment instead paying bills by standing in queue,” Jadhav said.In a move aimed at making online bill payment popular among consumers, the MSEDCL last month had announced waiver in processing charges that were applicable on such mode of payment.All types of online payment gateways including debit card, digital wallets, cash card and Unified Payments Interface (UPIs) have been exempted from processing charges..
